Sustainability & Ethics
Thoughtful care for skin. Respect for the world around it.
Our approach
Care extends beyond the skin.
We'd rather tell you exactly what we do and where we still have work ahead than describe ourselves in words that can't be checked.
What we do today
Commitments we can point to.
Cruelty-free
We don't test finished products on animals, and we don't ask anyone else to do it on our behalf. Renewal should never come at the expense of compassion.
No added fragrance
Nothing in our formulas is there to make a product smell a certain way. No parfum, no fragrance blends, no essential oils added for scent. A few of our actives are aromatic botanicals and carry a faint natural scent of their own — they're listed by name on every label, and they're in the formula for what they do, not how they smell.
Made in the United States
Our products are made in the U.S. in partnership with laboratories that meet high standards of quality and safety, using globally sourced ingredients.
A short line, on purpose
We make a small number of products and we make them well. Every addition has to earn its place rather than fill a gap in a catalogue.
Recyclable shipping
Orders ship in corrugated cardboard mailers. No plastic void fill, no unnecessary layers between the box and what's inside it.
Use what is necessary.
Formulate with intention.
Avoid excess where possible.
Where we're still working
What we haven't done yet.
We're not carbon neutral
We haven't measured our footprint or purchased offsets. We'd rather say so plainly than buy a badge before we've done the work behind it.
Refills aren't ready
A refill system has to work in practice, not just on paper. We haven't built one that meets our standards yet. We'll tell you when it exists rather than before.
Creating better, not simply more.
Our rituals are shaped by necessity, respect, and responsibility — supporting the skin while honoring the world around it. This is the SaltMudé way.
